Summer Flight

In summer, La Clusaz is an exceptional thermal site. Access is either via the lifts for a "comfortable" flight or on foot to reach the ridges.

1. Summer Takeoffs & Access

🚡 The Crêt du Loup (1850m)

Access to Mechanical Lifts:

Take the Crêt du Merle Chairlift, then walk slightly down to take the Crêt du Loup Chairlift.

🥾 The Aiguille (2250m)

Access Hiking (H&F) :

Count about 400m of D+ on foot from Crêt du Loup (30-45min). Steep but effective path.

Ideal for: Taking off above the inversion layer.

2. Landing & Approaches (Giguet)

The official landing is located in the heart of the village (Giguet Field). A detailed wind analysis is essential.

🌬️ The Valley Breeze (IMPORTANT)

The breeze rises from the Thônes Valley, reaches the Village Center (La Clusaz) and then rises towards the Plateau des Confins and the Col des Aravis.

  • 🔥 Upward breeze (Afternoon) :
    Make a PTU Left Hand (Blue Line).
  • ❄️ Downward breeze (Morning/Evening) :
    Make a PTS (Pink Line) facing the valley.

Flying in Winter

Winter offers calm and stable aerology. The main difference lies in the access (ski required) and the highly regulated landing zones.

1. Winter Takeoffs (Access RM)

⛷️ Crêt du Loup (1850m)

Location : Between the red run "Le Loup" and the black run "Le Mur Edgar".

Orientation : W / NW.

❄️ Takeoff on SKIS only.

Location : Go down a bit on the red slope. Takeoff on the right side.

There are 2 landings: one authorized and the other prohibited.

  1. Zone 1 (PROHIBITED Solos) :
    Reserved for Schools & Professional Tandems.
  2. Zone 2 (AUTHORIZED Solos) :
    Giguet Field.
